'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Remember Tom?

It wasn`t too long ago that we bemoaned the fact that United`s performances, results-wise, had dipped whilst Tom Cleverley was injured.

It was naturally assumed, that when fit, Tom would resume his place in the centre of the united midfield, but that hasn`t proven to be the case.

In fact we`re questioning whether some of that early season sparkle has evaporated with Tom not even meriting a place on the bench for the trip to the Etihad.

Is it a case of the injury blunting his performance level or is Sir Alex nurturing along with a view to him bursting back on to the scene next season?

There is no doubt that this guy is talented, its players like him that we require - short, quick passing, always moving around the pitch waiting to get possession and causing damage to the opposition. There is no doubt that he will once again light up the middle of the park once he gets into the team again. He just has to remain fit and work in the gym a bit more to create a bigger presence about him.

As far as tom not being included in the squad for the city game, apart from any injury I can't understand why he wouldn't be included,he should have played at least some part,he would have surely improved our passing game even if he had lacked match fitness.

What happened to Cleverley? Simon Kevin Davies went out of his was to injure him, bragging he was going to do so before the game shortly before injured joust injuring him. Since then he's suffered from numerous niggly injuries and struggled with getting match fit and with no real form behind him his struggled to get back in the first team especially considering the form of all his competition for the same place. Fergie not selecting him for the bench is just another example of Fergies tactical disaster v them, not one of his finest tactical decisions. Cleverley will be back next season though and add that quick, slick passing and moving game to our artillery again.
