Did Man Utd Pay Too Much?

Did Man Utd Pay Too Much?

Vital Manchester United asked, in last weeks poll, if Manchester United were mugs to pay £18million (including add ons) for Michael Carrick?

We split it between United and Spurs fans.

23% (Spurs fans), yes you were and only 1% voted for the (Spurs fan) no, that was about right.

37% (Man Utd fans) also said we paid too much and 8% (Man Utd fans) said the fee was about right.

So, shocking as it might sound, the majority agree with our London friends!

4% said £18 million is too much for any player and 27% are sitting on the fence and will decide at the end of the season.

Our latest poll asks if Rooney is right to threaten to strike over his ban.

Utter Rubbish - Chelsea have just spent £8 - 9 million on Boulahrouz. Carrick is twice the player and will play a much more important and pinacle role in the squad then a wing back. How much would you pay to see Steven Gerrard at Trafford Park? 40? Carrick is much more than half the player SG is. Well done Fergey for making a solid purchase.

Carrick is much more than half the player SG is.
When we're done laughing, we'll send you the award for the best carrick one liner in the mail.
Which half by the way? He doesn't tackle, or run, or score, or lead the team, and his work rate isn't envious. He can pass, but so can Xabi Alonso, and MUCH better than him (Xabi is also younger, scores more, better leader, more vision and has goood defensive play). Xabi cost 10 million quid, and is an international fixture in Spain's midfield. Carrick is an England substitute on a good day.
That's not to say Carrick is a bad player, or that he's not a good addition to the Utd. midfield... but 18 mill? He can be the next Rio or the next Veron.

no13 is right, for a centre midfielder he aint up to much, cant tackle, isnt gonna control a game and from what ive heard youd swear he was a footballing visionary, a one man, defence splitting, passing machine, spurs(zokora),arsenal(rosicky),chelsea(ballack) have all signed better players who cost less to add to their already good midfield options whereas we got done outta 18 million for a average player, give me xabi alonso or even scott parker any day instead of carrick

Number 13 don't forget the free kicks with fiendish power and pin point accuracy but to give him dues not a bad thrower of the ball.
