Rio to Get New Deal

On the back of speculation linking Rio Ferdinand with a move to the Chinese Super League, comes the inference that the centre back could soon be offered a new deal by United.

United, aware of the expertise Rio possesses, are rumoured to be set to offer Rio a further year on his contract although the same rumour reports that his current salary may be lowered with additional payments for appearances being paid.

Speaking about the situation, Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say,

"Rio`s still young for a centre back. I think it`s all down to how he feels physically and what he is doing at the moment is good. He has no issues at all."

"I think from time to time he gets the odd tweak in his back and we have to manage it and look after it."

"He`s adapting really well to the challenge of making sure he is fit and fresh to play in the games where we need him."

It seems like a sensible solution all round to me!
