Modric?

Modric?

Back in the summer, last August, we looked on from afar as Chelsea and Spurs tried to tie up the future of the Spurs Croatian star, Luka Modric.

We scoffed at the idea that Chelsea were prepared to pay £40 million for the player but wondered if Spurs would be able to say no to the offer.

As it turned out, Modric stayed at White Hart Lane.

But, we now hear that any attempts to get Modric to tie himself to a long-term deal have yet to be satisfied with Modric, apparently, awaiting the outcome of the situation regarding Harry Redknapp staying in North London or taking the England job.

Well now the speculation regarding the future of Modric is rife again with Chelsea`s name once again appearing in the headlines, but, also, United are now being linked with the player, which troubles me.

If Spurs were reluctant to sell last summer, what sort of mad price will they want this summer?

Modric signed a 6 year contract less than 2 years ago, how long is long term? We don't have to let him go unless someone offers a lot of money and then why go to you, most of your fans (not all) don't know a good player anyway. You're just lucky that Ferguson doesn't listen to you all baying for Carrick and Berba, why would Modric want to go and play with you and risk not shining in his first 30 seconds on the pitch, then the glory boys would get on his back.

If he goes to anybody it will prob be you lot!! Will Fergie will try his underhand tactics as he did Berba? probably, although as Chelsea found out it simply doesn't wash with Levy I think even Fergie found that out with the Berba deal...You may get the man at the end of the day but Levy will get his price IF he decides to sell...although id rather see him go to Chelsea for a substantial fee and any deal include Torres :D

Here we go again when will "Old Red Nose" and Manure stop using the underhanded tactics of the press to unsettle other Premier League players. We saw Levy see off the Chelsea bid at the start of the season, so when he says No! he means No!. In the past Levy was forced to sell because players only had 18 months or less on the contracts, this was the case with Carrick and Berba to Manure and Robbie Keane to Liverpool, Levy now has every player the club considers to be an "Asset" on a long contract, Modric, Bale, Van dar Vaart, etc. Also was the Berba deal a success? Old Red Nose moved Heaven and Earth with dodgy tactics to get him and has it worked out, I think not, he cannot get in the team at present. Berba was a good player for Spurs but not for Manure, Will Modric be a success at Manure, I feel you will never know because if he leaves Spurs he will go to Spain or Italy.

The problem for Modric's agent is that Luka is already tied to a long term deal, so Levy holds all the cards. On top of which, when we have CL football and a top-rated manager (or Harry) for next season, there will be no reason for him not to commit further. So, my Manc friends, dream on!

More than the £31m you paid for Berba, £19m for Carrick and £3.5 for Sheringham. Spurs Man Utd's feeder club

Probably start at £50million. If Dan the Man decides to sell, which he won't.

Modric IS on a long-term contract. But you can come and get him, if you have the money.
