Evans - New Deal?

One tabloid carries the inference that Manchester united are set to offer Jonny Evans a new five year deal.

Evans, who scored his first ever goal for United, at Wolves, has proved to be a rock at the heart of our defence this season following the injury to Nemanja Vidic in Basel and with Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling also being unavailable at times.

But, whilst Jones and Smalling are capable of playing at centre-back you get the feeling their versatility, compared to Evans preference to play in the middle of the defence, has persuaded Sir Alex that he deserves a new deal.

But, returning to that first ever United goal, Evans had a response for those who mocked his facial expression once the ball hit the net with Evans explaining,

"A few of the lads laughed at my facial expression. It was just pure relief and shock."

I`d say quite a few United supporters were shocked to see Evans nam eon the score-sheet as well!
