The Thoughts of Rooney

It`s unusual for United to score five and for Wayne Rooney not to be on the score-sheet, but that was the case against Wolves yesterday.

Rooney, who has been on a great run when it comes to scoring, failed to add to his season tally of 27 but took time out to reflect on the events that took place at Moulineux and our subsequent improved goal difference, commenting,

"Wolves got the man sent off and we took advantage of that, got the goal quickly, and from then on the game was dead."

"We still had to go out there and be professional and try to get more goals and we managed to do that."

"You always want to score yourself, but we scored five as a team ad I`m delighted for Danny and Chicharito to get on the score-sheet. It`s great that others are scoring goals too and it can only be good for the team. We knew it was a chance to score goals."

"We came in at half-time and spoke about - we wanted to push on and score more goals. We got an extra two in the second half so we are pleased with the result."

I`d conclude that hitting a side for five, away from home, without seriously breaking sweat is a result and a half.
