Bilbao Thoughts

Bilbao Thoughts

United face a stiff test tonight as they attempt to turn over a 3-2 first leg deficit against Athletico Bilbao in the Europa League.

Speaking to the media, Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say,

"It`s a difficult tie for us. Bilbao have a tremendous advantage now winning at Old Trafford 3-2. It`s a challenge - but it`s not one beyond us."

"I think our record away from home in Europe helps us."

"We`ve done really well the last few years away from home so, hopefully, that will be an advantage to us. But it`s going to need a good performance."

"We can still win this game and I think the players believe that, too. We`re banking on our performance being better than it was at Old Trafford and I`m sure it will be."

Is banking on our away form the saviour of our Europa League ambitions?

Continuing, Sir Alex went on to praise our opponents tonight, further remarking,

"It was an outstanding performance by them, not only in their ability but their energy was unbelievable."

"Their stats were the highest of any team that ha splayed at Old Trafford in the last 10 years, in terms of the distance run."

"And that is great credit to the desire of the team to do well."

It promises to be an enthralling encounter, don`t miss what could turn out to be a classic!
