The Crowd Reaction

The ripple of excitement, and relief, that ran around Old Trafford when news filtered through that Swansea City had scored, against Manchester City was something very noticeable on Sunday.

It appears that it even filtered down to the players with Michael Carrick admitting in a post match media interview,

"I did notice it, maybe because the game was quite comfortable for us and we had easy possession, you can take in the crowd."

"Obviously the place erupted when news came through so that we were well aware of that."

And as for being top of the league and what lies ahead, Carrick added,

"There is no hiding the fact that it is nice to be top of the league. This is a big week for us but I think we`ll be saying that for the rest of the season."

"Wolves has been a tough place to go over the last few years. It has been hard for us down there, so we are not taking anything for granted."

"We are top of the league at the moment but we still have to pick up enough points between now and the end."

It all points to the titanic tussle with our noisy-neighbours as being the defining moment of the season.

Old Trafford should be that rapturous all the time rather than being drowned out by the away support.

Old toilet isn't that rapturous all the time, because united fans are muted in support of their own team. But give them the chance to gloat over someone else's misfortune and they really make a racket!
