Robson's View

Robson's View

Bryan Robson refused to use the prolonged build-up as an excuse for his team's poor start.

Robson: 'That is not a reason. We played some good football at times. But defensively we were poor and basically we have gifted Manchester United their win.

'It was totally fitting for a player of George Best's talent. It was a fantastic send off for him but then you do not expect anything different from Manchester United.

'The club are always excellent with their ex-players. George Best is one of the best players the world has ever seen and the occasion they have given him was right.'
