Facing the Challenge Head On

Facing the Challenge Head On

As United seek to pip City in the 2011-2012 title race in what looks like developing into a titanic battle, we should never forget that one of our own is in a titanic battle to rescue his career.

Darren Fletcher, a pivotal element of our midfield is doing his utmost to defeat a medical condition that is threatening to prematurely end his career. Although he`s not expected to play again this season, Darren remains optimistic that he does have a future in the game.

Speaking to a leading tabloid, Darren had this to say about his continuing battle,

"I`m okay."

"I`m taking all my medication and listening to the doctor."

"It`s a week-by-week situation so I`ve not got any timescale on recovery, but the target is next season."

"If I can come back then, that would be great for me."

"It`s something that will never leave me, but you have to find somehow a way to manage it so that I can play football."

"I`m trying everything under the sun at the moment, diet and hypnotherapy."

Our thoughts and best wishes remain with Darren as he seeks to get back to doing what he does best - playing football.
