Smalling Injured

Drafted in alongside Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling was doing a decent enough job against the Dutch.

I say was because Chris will probably remember very little of the night following a sickening clash of heads with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as the Dutch striker netted the second goal.

Smalling lay motionless, on the Wembley turf, with blood pouring from a head wound, before being carried away on a stretcher.

After the game, a game that England eventually lost 3-2, Stuart Pearce gave an update on Smalling`s plight, commenting,

"Chris Smalling has a really bad gash on his head and has gone to hospital. We hope that is not too bad."

Considering the nature of the injury we suspect that Chris will not be in consideration for a starting place as our title challenge continues, this weekend, with a trip to White Hart Lane.
