'If It's Football, It's Vital'

In It to Win It!

As we prepare to make our Europa League bow, in the Amsterdam Arena tonight, Sir Alex Ferguson shared a few thoughts at his pre-match press conference.

As has been the case in recent interviews, relating to Europe, Sir Alex mulled over our exit from the Champions League but also re-iterated a desire to lead the side to Europa League glory, remarking,

"We didn`t expect it but it happened and we have to get on with it. You look at the teams in this competition and it is a challenge."

"We threw it away it away against Basel in the home game and were unlucky against Benfica."

"That caught us short to be honest, and we suffered for it."

"Now players are coming back and we can combine the Premier League and Europa League with the number of players available. Winning a European trophy is significant."

"I feel good about it - it is a tournament we will try and win."

"There`s a final in Romania. I want to be there and they want to be there and so do our supporters."

With the Europa League being our only action, courtesy of our FA Cup exit at the hands of Liverpool, we can afford to play the big-guns as we don`t have any Premier League fixtures until the weekend of the 25th February!

""I think they went into the Champions League a bit arrogant. They're playing against proper teams. It's not like the Europa League," Paul Scholes. You're gutted to be in this competition.

Agreed there was no hunger in the champions league group matches and we deserved elimination . The consolation cup is a distraction but I'll wecome the trophy at the end of the season bit like a euro community shield .probably knock City out in the process .
