Injuries Mount Up!

Our injury woes appear to be continuing.

With the squad hit badly with injuries this season, to key players, two more of our regular starters picked up knocks in the win at Arsenal yesterday.

Phil Jones appeared to turn an ankle as he tried to cut out the threat posed by Theo Walcott and Michael Carrick was a virtual passenger in the latter stages moving gingerly.

After the game Sir Alex Ferguson had the following to say about the injury situation,

"It`s not good news, Jones will be out for a while and Carrick was feeling his hamstring in the second half. He just had to sit in the middle of the pitch."

With a crucial FA Cup tie at Anfield fast approaching, it could well be a case of picking a starting eleven from those who are available.

Surely you have to question what in the hell is going on with the medical team at your club? Either your staff aren't doing their jobs properly and spotting injury prone players prior to signing them (or semi-blind ones!) or they're getting the treatment of injured players badly wrong. Can't be purely down to bad luck that you've had so many injuries this season (and a fair few last season as well) can it?

Hate to admit it but I think fcb is right. I don't think it's to do with our players being injury prone but us driving them to injury proness by overplaying them. Having squad depth is well and good but they don't have to be used only when someone is injured. Physiotherapy and injuries is a very tough area in football but our physios are getting more wrong than right.

More players needed in the squad - or our up and coming youngsters need playing more.....

its just bad luck and some older players are injury prone

If we do not buy and look at building our squad around key players in the summer, then I will be one seriously narked Utd fan
