Rooney Reflects!

Our festive period saw a mixed bag of results, two losses hampered our progress but matters were turned around with that sparkling FA Cup win at the Etihad Stadium.

The mixed results combined with a mixed period for Wayne Rooney.

The striker, having been caught breaking a curfew and performing badly in training, received, as we all know, a hefty 200,000 fine.

With the dust, presumably, now having settled, Wayne has spoken to the media about that period, describing his reaction to the fine, his patchy performances and life in the camp in general.

First up, that patchy form following the punishment dished out by Sir Alex, which had Wayne commenting,

"I was tense when I got back on the pitch and I believe it showed."

It was probably the reason why he was hauled off at Newcastle. And as for the fine, quite naturally Wayne wasn`t too happy about the situation, admitting he did dispute it, remarking,

"Yes - but for reasons that I can`t make it public, I accepted it."

We`d love to know the reasons but we suspect for the sake of harmony in the camp, Wayne kept it buttoned, but talking about harmony in the camp he further added,

"You can`t always live in harmony. Football is made up of conflict."

"Life in the dressing room, between players, between us and the coach, between us and loads of people who don`t seem to matter, its continuous confrontation. At times it can be harsh."

The side of football many, probably, don`t know exists. I guess it`s not all a bed of roses living in each others pockets almost 24/7!
