'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Just Like?

Yet another slant on the recent press besiegement of Wayne Rooney came to light yesterday in the aftermath of our victory over our noisy-neighbours in the FA Cup.

With Wayne having already dismissed the tabloid talk about a move away from Old Trafford, as utter bollocks, Sir Alex waded in with a few words and likened him to an colourful character that had his ups and downs with the tabloid press, commenting,

"There is no problem with Wayne. He has got to realise that the press have got another Gascoigne."

"He`s a headline maker, whether it`s good or bad."

"He will have to suffer it but the best thing is on days like this when he`s good."

"Wayne gave a magnificent performance today. There is no problem with the boy`s temperament at all. It is just off the field he is going to be spotlighted all the time."

There`s n doubting both had sublime talent on the pitch but off the pitch I guess each might object to Sir Alex`s comparison!

Difference is that Gascoigne had charisma and a loveable, roguish charm. Rooney has all the charm and charisma of a pig with diarrhea.
