Jones Joins Injured List

Jones Joins Injured List

Our injury list received an unwelcome addition last night.

Phil Jones, who has been a revelation since joining us, was taken off in the 20th minute at Craven Cottage last night.

Earlier on in the encounter, Jones had received an elbow to the cheek, from Clint Dempsey, albeit accidentally.

Unfortunately, there are fears that the cheekbone is fractured and that Jones could be absent for as long as four to six weeks, depending on his powers of recovery.

Speaking about the injury, Sir Alex Ferguson had this to say in the aftermath of the 5-0 in,

"It was an elbow from Dempsey but I don`t think it was intentional. We`ll send Jones for an X-ray but it doesn`t look great."

Bad news as we head off into the festive programme!

Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery, his quickly become a key player in the side. His runs forward from defence or midfield are outstanding and highlight the directness we lack from the middle and show the potential of the team if we did possess it.
