Carrick and that Goal!

I guess when you`ve not scored for seventy games, scoring a goal as good as the one Michael Carrick scored against Queens Park Rangers is enough to start shouting from the rooftops.

But, on commenting about the finish that followed a fifty yard dash with the ball, Michael`s modesty comes shining through when he remarks,

"The last time I scored a goal from inside my own half was probably when I was playing Under-12`s."

"It just seemed to open up for me and I kept on going and thought 'why not?` It was great to see it go in."

"It seemed to take forever to actually reach the back of the net. It wasn`t a relief getting my first for so long, I was more interested in killing the game off."

That`s a good point, especially at 1-0 and with Queens Park Rangers looking for that equaliser.

But we`d like to add - don`t leave it another seventy games before getting back on the score-sheet!

It was a great moment and move by Carrick, definately one of his finer moments in his career. We do need a midfielder who can do that on a regular basis though, we've seen the difference having a play bomb on from the middle makes with Jones causing havoc through the middle. Just imagine someone who can do it like Jones but who is far more techincally gifted.
