A Few Europa League Thoughts!

A Few Europa League Thoughts!

The draw for the first of the knockout games of the Europa League takes place in Nyon this Friday.

If I were to be truthful I`d have to admit that it does little to attract my attention and I wouldn`t be too fussed if we were knocked out in the first knockout stages, Thursday night football on a regular basis does nothing to entice me.

Nevertheless, I`m sure those that sit in the Ivory Towers in Nyon are expecting us to do our best to uphold the rules of the game and ensure we do our best.

When it come so the draw, it appears we can`t be drawn against any other English club, this time, so there`s no chance o fbeing paired with Manchester City.

But, when it comes to City, Sir Harry Redknapp of Tottenham reckons they`re the team to beat, even more so now Sir Harry is exiting the competition a the group stages with Harry lamenting about our involvement in the Europa League,

"Let them have it. Good luck to them! It will be interesting won`t it? I was at Old Trafford last Saturday and it was great hearing the Wolves fans chanting to the United supporters - 'Thursday night, Channel Five."

"I think City will win it if they want to. Alex won`t go with the first team on a Thursday night, will he? But City can change their team."

"Just look at them at Chelsea the other night."

"You`ve Nasri on the bench, Dzeko, its unreal."

They`re welcome to it Harry, we`ve bigger fish to fry and a failure to land them will not be compensated by winning a second-rate European trophy!

I don't really care for it but whilst we're in it we may as well give it a go... with the reserves/youth atleast.

It is very possible that you get knocked out by Ajax. They have very good and young squad. SAF will not going to field the strongest possible squad, is he ?
