Hitting Top Spot

Thanks to Chelsea becoming the first team to beat Manchester City this season, the title race has been thrown wide open again.

In fact, if we can win at Loftus Road, Saturday lunchtime, we`ll top the table and be hoping that in-form Arsenal can do us a favour and beat City and keep us top.

Speaking about the title race, our midfielder Michael Carrick has remarked,

"City have set the standard and not dropped many points but there`s a cluster of clubs behind them which were heading up, so we`re quite happy with the way things have gone."

"Of course we`d prefer to be on top but we`re actually in a better position than last season and, hopefully, we`ll be even closer to them come the end of the year."

But Carrick is appreciative that the title race, this time around, involves a lot more clubs but he also expects the field to narrow down as the months pass by, further commenting,

"We`ve seen a lot of big teams move up the table - Tottenham have been on a great run, Arsenal have come on strong and Liverpool are picking up points too."

"It may stay like that for a bit - even going into February or March you can have three or four involved and then it ends up as two."

"The important thing for us at the moment is making sure we stick close to those top teams and hopefully get that top spot as soon as we can."

I have a feeling we may well hit that top spot quicker than many think!

Good attitude Carrick now lets have that attitude relfected in your performances. Carrick, Ferdinand and Evra really need to step up to the mark now with the injury problems we're having. Roll back to pre-Barca2009 Carrick.
