Ferguson Reaction - Wolves (h)

Ferguson Reaction - Wolves (h)

Sir Alex Ferguson would have been pleased to see United get back to winning ways yesterday afternoon.

The defeat in Basel, a defeat that saw us crash out of the Champions League, would have hurt the gaffer badly.

Therefore it`s no real surprise to hear Sir Alex using the defeat as the impetus to pick ourselves up, drive on and try to retain the Premier League title with Sir Alex commenting to the media afterwards,

"They were all disappointed with what happened in Basel - the young players have not experienced a bad defeat so it is probably a good thing for them in the long run."

"On Wednesday we worked our socks off and didn`t get a break but today we worked our socks off and did get a break."

"Some of our football was fantastic. Getting the second goal just relaxed everyone and, although Wolves scored just after half time, our attacking play was terrific and we could have scored a lot more today, which was pleasing."

"I thought our wide positions were a problem for Wolves. Nani and Valencia kept their full backs occupied the whole game."

"Our fans know when we need them - they knew that today and were fantastic. They got right behind the young players and that was good."

"You hope it puts pressure on City and Chelsea, but the important thing is get our game right. And if we get to New Year`s Day in the frame we have a great chance in the second half of the season."

We surely will especially with City yet to experience any kind of blip!
