Vidic Agony!

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed our worst fears today,

Our club captain, and influential centre-back, Nemanja Vidic will be out for the rest of the season, courtesy of the injury to his right knee he picked up in Basel.

Commenting about the loss, Sir Alex Ferguson has remarked,

"Nemanja is out for the season."

"It is bad news. He will be a loss."

I thought the injury was a bad one when I saw it."

"Vidic sees the specialist on Monday to map out the progress of when he has the operation. It won`t be immediate because we have to let the swelling come down."

What a bad week it has been!

An absolutely horrendous injury, and I feel extremely sorry for the guy. According to the latest press reports, he's damaged his medial and lateral ligaments as well as rupturing his anterior cruciate ligaments. Putting all rivalry aside, I'd like to wish him a full recovery.

Horrible news and possibly a key moment which ensure we won't win the title. It's not right that some players (Evra & Ferdinand) rely on him so much. With him in the side we're a solid defensive unit without him, well, just look at our defensive displays this season without him. We lose discipline and tolerance when he's not in the team. Ferdinand and Evra really need to step up to the mark as the more experienced defenders and take charge of the defensive line. Here's hoping it's a full and speedy recovery for Vidic. This also begs the question, who will step up to be captain now?

Dont worry.. He will make a miraculous recovery in February ..as always is the case for United injuries

You do enjoy being wrong don't ya Blue_Mel. There's no way on this Earth that with the injuries his got (ref fcb's post) he will be back in that time. As for these miraculous recoveries with the amount of injured players we've got now I would love for one or two to happen, it's been a long time since we last had one.
