Rooney in the Mix

That remarkable Wayne Rooney goal, the spectacular overhead kick that knocked the stuffing out of Manchester City, is up for an accolade.

In FIFA`s annual awards (not that they mean that much), Rooney`s strike is in the top three and could be awarded the title of Goal of the Year.

All it has to do is beat the other two nominations.

But that`s where the problem lies, one of the other two nominations if for the goal FIFA`s favourite son, Lionel Messi, scored against Arsenal, whilst the third is a goal from Neymar against Flamengo.

I wonder where the smart money is going!
