'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Off?

The exit, in midweek, at the hands of the Championship side Crystal Palace, from the Carling Cup, has the tabloid press all in a tizz.

The tabloid press are now convincing themselves that Sir Alex Ferguson will use the defeat as the opportunity to trim his squad and sell off, possibly in January, some of those who didn`t perform with distinction on Wednesday.

Amongst those the tabloid has placed in the frame are Berbatov, Gibson, Macheda and Diouf!

Personally, I reckon they might be right with three of those four ditched in January.

Does anyone agree or disagree?

Macheda will leave but only on loan, he has the potential to be a great player but isn't getting the consistent opportunities at Premier League level he needs. Diouf has got the makings of a decent striker, he's very athletic, has a fair amount of pace and he's good in the air and may be a useful player. With Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck and possibly Macheda (if he fulfills his potential) all ahead of him i'm not too sure his stay will be a particularly long one, for now a loan will do and whilst the others develop their game keep him and see how things are in the future. Gibson can go, on his day he can hit 30 yarders, both shots and passes but his day doesn't come around enough and his consistency is far from great. He has the potential to be a decent player but his had plenty of time to show it and now being 24 I don't think he'll ever develop into a United quality player. Berby can go if the price is right. It's asking for a lot considering his age and remaining contract length but unless we can get 10+ mil from an Anzhi, PSG or Malaga I'd sooner he stayed until his contract expired.
