United Goal Void Can Be Filled

Wales and Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs says the goalscoring void left by the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy should be filled by all the team mates and not left to just one man.

Ruud scored 150 goals in five seasons, so there certainly is a massive void left, lets just hope the decision to allow him to leave doesn't come back to haunt us.

Giggs said: 'When we were successful and winning leagues everyone contributed to the goalscoring part. We didn't just rely on one person. Obviously Ruud scored a lot of goals for us but this season, I will have to chip in, Paul Scholes will have to chip in and so will everyone else. We also need to score more from set pieces because they can win you games. Who gets the goals does not really matter providing we are getting the results.'

Giggs put his words into action when he scored from a free-kick against Ajax in this weekends friendly.

understand what he means, but lets face it, we still need a top striker to come in. i think ruud leaving could have been a major error but lets see what the transfer market brings before panicking.

Disgree with TheatreOfDreams that it was an error to sell RVN. He has not been playing well for some time and even Van Basten thinks so. Only people wearing rose tinted glasses can see it.
