No Midfield Buy!

The news that Anderson has joined Tom Cleverley on the sideline has been greeted by some comments form Sir Alex Ferguson.

With some pundits suspecting that the double injury blow might force Sir Alex into the transfer market, Sir Alex has ruled out such a move remarking,

'It is easy to say you are going to buy players but it is not easy to buy them for Manchester United, especially in January."

'I do not see anyone who could make us a better team"

'There are two or three players but they are not available, so there is no point even going there.'

It seems a long time since the name of Wesley Sneijder was once in the frame!

We need someone in midfield, I said at the beginning of the season that when Cleverley got injured we'd be back at square one and lacking quality in the middle. As great as a Sneijder or Modric would be I'd sooner see us take a punt on a youngster again.

"It is easy to say you are going to buy players but it is not easy to buy them for Manchester United, especially in January." - Fair point by Fergie, no doubt many will just look at the line "I do not see anyone who could make us a better team" and scoff. We've seen it before, Douglas Costa United price = £20 mil, Douglas Costa actual price = €6 mil.
TheFamousNo7
i believe we are yet to hit true form this season we will kick on when it gets cold
nickster
You watch - he'll be forced into panic-buying someone in January, especially if you end up in the Europa League
fifthcolumnblue
City have been Panic buying for the last 4 years
nickster
... and they will do again when Tevez leaves and they get knocked out of the Champions League.
TheFamousNo7
Fergie is being very stubborn with the midfield and it seems we won't be seeing the quality we want to see until Cleverley, Pogba and Morrison have all developed into the players they can potentially be.
TheFamousNo7
Mancini said: “Another striker? No, I have three strikers and that is enough. I also have three or four players who can also play as a striker.” TF7 talking rubbish, some things never change.
Bluedub
"I have three strikers and that is enough" - That's why he has Tevez (1), Aguero (2), Dzeko (3) and Balotelli (4) then? Your interest in Lavezzi and Cavani, according to your chief scout, is because you're not looking at getting another striker right? Don't take your managers word for gospel.
TheFamousNo7
He said he has three because he has three, T***z is AWOL so he doesn't have him. The interest in Cavani and Lavezzi is all fuelled by the Italian media, believing what suits youagain TF7. And btw Lavezzi isn't a striker, he plays wide of a front three.
Bluedub
Do you always lap up everything your club feeds you? "I think Cavani and Lavezzi are strong players but they play for Napoli at the moment. I don't know what can happen in the future." - Mancini. You tell me that isn't showing interest. Also, I know where Lavezzi plays mate, but he can also play behind the striker, no doubt you conveniently forgot to mention that though as it would put him in that striker bracket I was talking about.
TheFamousNo7
No that would be second striker. Mancini's coach only last week said that Cavani and Balotelli couldn't play in the same team. All top clubs are going to be interested in top players mate, what do you expect him to say when he's asked a direct question about them players?
Bluedub
"No that would be second striker" - So he's a striker then. I thought that was pretty evident from the word 'striker' actually being in the position description lol! What do I expect him to say? Pretty much what every manager says when asked about the possibility of signing players they're not interested in and that being along the lines of how the player is good but they can't see a deal happening. Instead Mancini basically says they're good and that whilst they're playing for Napoli now in the future they might play for Man City, kind of shows you're interested you see and that sentiment is backed up by your chief scout.
TheFamousNo7
Mancini says the same thing about all top players, does that mean he's interested in them all? A second striker is different to a striker mate, you're just arguing for the sake of it on that point.
Bluedub
Famous why argue with Bluedub, he will never agree with anyone. When City signs another striker, he will come with up with yet another explanation, he is the one who comes to our forum to argue on the choice of words - says it all. Noone knows what is really going on behind the scenes, we can all just guess, City has been linked with a number of strikers, however again its just pure speculation, except for Bluedub who of course has a direct line to the management of city.
nordkap
Too right nordkap the fact that he's arguing a secondary striker doesn't come under the striker bracket despite having striker in the position description says it all really. I'm beginning to think my time spent arguing with Bluedub would be better spent talking to a brick wall :P
TheFamousNo7
The brick wall would probably have a better knowledge of the game mate.
Bluedub
That's a bit harsh on yourself mate you're not that bad to talk to.
TheFamousNo7
Haha, nicely turned TF7, touché. Ami I really not that bad to talk to? I'll have to do something about that.
