Fletcher`s Mantra!

And still it damn well hurts!

Every time I open a paper there`s something that reminds me of that dreadful Sunday afternoon, those two hours whereby our hopes and dreams were shattered as a sky blue tidal wave enveloped us and swallowed us up.

In a way I`m looking forward to getting back into action tonight, even though it is only the Carling Cup.

But before we kick a ball in anger again, perhaps we`d better tale solace from the words of one of the vanquished on Sunday, Darren Fletcher.

Fletcher, quite rightly, wants everyone to remember Sunday but also wants everyone to acknowledge there`s still along way to go this season when he`s attributed as having quoted to the media,

"I kept telling the lads after the game to remember how it feels to lose by this score-line."

"But it`s a long season and there are no medals handed out in October."

"There are still 29 games left. It is a bad result losing to Manchester City but this doesn`t mean the league is over. We have to respond and win our next game at Everton on Saturday."

"City are in a great position but so were Chelsea last year - in fact they were eight or nine points clear."

"They are the team at the top and everyone will want to knock them off."

The yare very wise words indeed!
