Carrick Was No Average Signing

Carrick Was No Average Signing

In my opinion, Michael Carrick is one of the most underrated players in England.

It was no surprise for me when Sir Alex spent a fee that could rise to £18.7 million on this talented Geordie to take him from Tottenham.

I don't have any doubt in my mind that Michael Carrick will be an integral part of the Man United team this season.

After Roy Keane's departure they really lacked someone with sheer class in the centre of the field and I'm sure Carrick will bring that.

I totally disagree with my other fellow members who say that Carrick is not worth the enormous money Sir Alex has spent on him. Come on, there is no point in bringing some cheap rubbish in or trying to play some genuine centre forward like Alan Smith in that role. That was never going to work as he was committing far too many fouls for our liking!

Take that hardworking, but not so gifted Fletcher for example, he looked promising at times but frankly it might sound a bit harsh he is not really good enough to start for a club of Man Utd's stature.

My ideal United 11 would be:

van der Sar,
G.Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Heinze,
Giggs, Carrick, Scholes, Ronaldo,
Smith, Rooney.

Boy that would be some team...much like Terry, Lampard and Drogba being Chelsea's nucleus I hope Ferdinand, Carrick and Rooney will become our nucleus...

I'm very much confident that Michael Carrick won't let Sir Alex and the millions of Man Utd fans down.

Spurs boss Martin Jol deep down inside will know that letting Carrick go will be some hole to fill and I hope along with Carrick swinging fortunes for Man Utd he might make this a year to savour by breaking into McClaren's England team...good luck MC....
