Why Rooney Was Omitted

It was a surprise not to see the name of Wayne Rooney on the team-sheet yesterday, at Anfield.

With the striker having been in such good form this season, you`d have thought that his name would have been one of the first that Sir Alex would have scribed onto his sheet of paper.

But that wasn`t the case with Sir Alex Ferguson offering the following comments about why he chose not to start with Wayne in the important clash,

"Wayne Rooney was very disappointed with UEFA`s decision."

"He could miss the European Championships as there is no guarantee England will qualify from the group stage."

"England have found it very difficult to progress in major championships and Wayne could miss the whole thing. He was just disappointed and Danny Welbeck is in good form."

Some will say that he has only himself to blame after yet more petulance has cost him and his country dearly!

He didn't play because he was disappointed? You are joking right?

He didn't play because he's a borderline psycho.

If DeGea can be dropped for nicking a doughnut, then surely your manager isn't going to play Shrek after an incident like this, as it clearly indicates a certain degree of mental instability, no?

Who knows why he didnt play, only SAF will have the real answer.. Its probably due to a niggle or thinking the CL game comming up is more important, given the CL situation we have put ourselves in. Maybe he didnt feel Rooney was in his might mind after the England game.. We managed to get a 1 point at Anfield, and after the way we played and the lack of first team players, I think both Rooney and SAF and we should be very happy. Beat the big ones at home and draw away - reciepe for championship.
