Finished?

Finished?

The rumour-mill infers that Rio Ferdinand will make a return to the centre of the United defence at Anfield.

But, with his international career on the wane, Sir Alex Ferguson has come out and spoken about the situation, commenting in the media,

"I think the England thing is a bit unfortunate because he missed a couple of appearances through injury and maybe Fabio is looking more to the future."

"Rio is just 32 now that may just be the reason."

"Some managers think that way - there is nothing wrong with that, looking to the future."

"Rio has had a great time, not just as captain for England but as a player for England. He`s always acquitted himself well in English colours."

From those words I reckon Sir Alex reckons Rio`s England career is all but over, don`t you?

I still don't think it's over quite yet. Even when looking to the future you must recognise the importance of experience especially in major tournaments like the Euro and World Cup. Rio might not feature as regularly but i'm sure he'll still be involved in the England set-up.
