Owen Linked to Arsenal?

Looking at one rumour that slipped into the transfer gossip today, I initially smiled.

It hints that Arsene Wenger could make a surprise swoop for Michael Owen next January.

Owen, as we`re all aware, signed a one year deal last summer, something that surprised many people.

Now although he`s hit the net when given the chance this season, we don`t believe that offer will be repeated in the summer of 2012.

We`re of the opinion that Sir Alex Ferguson will go with the likes of Hernandez, Welbeck and Macheda, and possibly Diouf.

On the surface though you`d expect there to be a reluctance to let Owen got to a rival but Sir Alex has never stood in the way of a player going anywhere when he felt he was of no significant use to United though has he?

Our only other gripe is that if there is a grain of truth in the rumour, would Owen get any more games than he would here and would not the pursuit of regular action be a prime reason for moving on?

I think he would be better at a team like my mighty Villa :)

Not going to happen. We're going to keep him until the end of his contract atleast and I can't imagine being too interested in Owen either. I reckon Owen himself wouldn't be too keen to meet the butchers, I mean physios at Arsenal either.

think if he were made available, there would be a pretty long line of clubs interested. I could see Spurs, perhaps even Liverpool being interested in him along with Arsenal, but what of others such as Sunderland, Everton, Villa and Newcastle plus a few more if United gave the okay.
