Rooney Update

With a Champions League group match, at home to Basle, looming, it appears hugely unlikely that Wayne Rooney will participate.

Having missed the trip to Stoke, Rooney, via his Twitter account, had intimated that his hamstring would have healed sufficiently for him to make a swift return on Tuesday evening.

But an update issued by the striker now says different with Rooney tweeting,

"Will mss tomorrow`s match against Basle. But will be fit for the visit of Norwich next Saturday."

Sir Alex Ferguson, who has followed a more cautious approach since the news about his hamstring problem broke, re-iterated after the Stoke game,

"It is only a small thing, but it could keep out for a week or two."

"Hamstrings are difficult, but it is not a serious one. He won`t be available for next week and he could be out a little longer."

Personally, I`d rest him for Norwich as well and give the injury time to heal properly before we hit some classic encounters in October!
