'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fergies Views - Stoke (a)

It may have been the first time we`ve dropped points this season and it may also have been the first points we`ve dropped to Stoke in the Premier League, but a draw was still a decent enough result.

Trips to the Britannia Stadium, against an improving Stoke side, are never easy affairs.

The Britannia Stadium has its own unique atmosphere and the physical (but fair) manner in which Stoke approach the game, can be unsettling.

Therefore, although at times it looked as if we were going to buckle, Sir Alex Ferguson was quite rightly pleased with the effort and commitment shown yesterday.

In his post match interview, Sir Alex had this to say about the performance,

"The lads played like real champions in every sense and battled hard. They weren`t cowed by them so we are pleased, although maybe a draw is a fair result."

"You expect, if they are going to score it is going to be from a set-piece, they have so many big lads."

"But in attack, we showed good play and maybe should have scored more than once."

Me! I`m just thankful we don`t have to go there more than once in a season!

The lads done well and may feel they could've won the game. Good to see we've got some of the harder games of the season out of the way early on and came out with a good point return also.
