Ready to Be Roughed Up?

If David De Gea has had trouble coping with the physical nature of the English game then the fixture, this afternoon, could prove to be a real test.

Stoke City`s approach to things is slightly on the aggressive side and De Gea has, this week, been training with the squad, a squad who have been told to rough him up a bit when crosses come in.

At his pre-match press conference, the physical approach was something Sir Alex Ferguson touché don, remarking,

"Playing at Stoke is an eye-opener for any keeper."

"I remember with Edwin van der Sar we used to discuss what his position would be in terms of the long throw-ins and where he was the most comfortable to deal with the situation and I think we got it right."

"We`ll do the same tomorrow ((Saturday). All the work this week has been on his positioning, where he should be, similar to what Edwin did."

"I`ve never criticised Stoke`s style and I`ve never had a problem with them. They have played to their strengths and there`s nothing wrong with that."

"We know you have to perform there. Last season we scored with about four minutes to go, but we`ve never won easily there, have we?"

Time for a comfortable win then!

He looked as if he controlled the goalmouth - a much more commanding performance
