Hargreaves Hits Out!

Having made his long-awaited comeback, and in the process scoring a decent enough goal, Owen Hargreaves has every reason to be optimistic that his move from United to City will be a prosperous one.

But, this morning, the tabloid press, carry some words from Owen that don`t reflect that great on our fine club.

It`s almost as if Owen feels that his continued injury problems were the result of the treatment he was given by United with the midfielder remarking,

"After my first season, I had a bit of a tendon problem, which I did not realize the magnitude of."

"I played and it got a little bit worse after that through the injections I had."

"All the people there are lovely. Everybody tries their best."

"They said it would help. That obviously wasn`t the case."

"With my tendon injury, I`ve had to be a guinea pig for a lot of these treatments."

"You`re left to try and make something of a difficult situation."

"Basically I wanted to play, everyone wanted me to play, so it`s not really an option to say sit it out and rest for six months."

"With hindsight, it`s a lot easier. Yep, probably the injections I had, I should probably not have had."

"I received some injections and after that my tendon was never the same."

"After the injections, I tried to get back on my feet, it felt like I was made out of glass. That obviously had a huge impact."

"Basically I was left to pick up the pieces, which was incredibly frustrating. That was surgery and that was 18 months gone."

"So at times, I`d watch games and be jealous of the way people could move, as funny as that sounds."

"I wondered if I was going to be able to be as sharp."

Some worrying comments there and although we`re perfectly sure United did nothing wrong in the way they treated the former England international, we wouldn`t be too surprised if some sort of statement was forthcoming from United, to clear matters up!

I think that is inevitable Red Boy, but the point missed so far by most of the pundits is that Hargreaves didn't actually put the boot in to United directly. He simply made comments. The Red Tops are the mischief makers here. Hargreaves hasn't played for ages as you and we know. After getting an hour under his belt on Wednesday he probably felt good especially having scored, but then he maybe reflected on what could have been over the last couple of years and arrived at certain conclusion which he made public. He also made several complimentary comments about life at ManU and wished his former colleagues well. It is easy to omit that when it suits!

Exactly Ped, the headlines coming the other way about Fergie's comments are equally misleading to what he actually said, but we all know that sensational headlines sell whether they bear any relevance to the article or not. Hargreaves is saying in hindsight the injections were probably the wrong route to take, it's hardly a damning inditement on anyone. What would concern me if were a red is that Hargreaves felt he had to play even though he knew himself he wouldn't last the pace, this reflects very badly on Fergie imo

Press are making a mountain out of a molehill. The mans been nothing but respectful and despite only playing a few games for us he's a legend in my eyes. I was chuffed to see him score and finally make his comeback, I'm gutted though that it wasn't in a United kit. Why we never signed him up on a pay as you play I don't know. No-one in football is more deserving of a bit of luck than Hargo and I'm glad things are finally going his way. Best of luck Hargreaves, you'll always be fondly remembered for your services during the treble winning season.

Yeah the press are glamming this up - but fact is he made comments when really was there any need for him to - and it raised a few eyebrows at his attutide towards Utd - I do wish him well - but I also feel he is attacking the Utd medical staf - I mean ffs - they have done well with Michael 'the glassman' Owen since he joined for us lol

Im not Bluedub - but was there any need for him to infact say anything - or is it just because hes gone over to the blue half of Manchester?
