Owen`s Delight!

Glad to be back in the thick of things, Michael Owen was, quite naturally, a target for the media journalists after his two goals had helped to see off Leeds United, in the Carling Cup, at Elland Road.

Talking about his two goals, Owen had this to say,

"My first goal was a pure mis-hit but, I have to say, that second one was every bit as sweet as I can hit them."

"It`s always nice for me to score because it`s what I have been about over the years."

But, quite possibly, reflecting on the way his career is going and his infrequent first team opportunities, Owen added,

"These days though, I am also trying to help and encourage the young players here and be an example to them."

"But at 31, I still believe there are a few good years in me yet."

But, being on a one year contract, having renewed last summer, one has to ponder if this will be his final season at Old Trafford, especially with the amount of young talent emerging.

Looking at his performance compared to Berby's if I had to pick one to stay at the moment it would have to be Owen. For a man in the last year of his contract I really don't feel Berby is playing for a new one which is a complete contrast to Owens performances and attitude whenever he's selected. Should've picked up the 15 or so mil from PSG when we could've.

With Rooney out, and Chica injured today, maybe Owen wasnt the best foil for Berba against Stoke....
