That Cole Tackle

Amongst the glory of keeping our 100% unbeaten run going, and setting anew record of 18 successive home wins, was a moment of madness.

It came seconds after Wayne Rooney, from three yards out, had hit the post and in the ensuing melee Ashley Cole`s challenge left Javier Hernandez writhing in agony.

Speaking about the tackle, in his post match interview, Sir Alex Ferguson was none too pleased, remarking,

"It was a shocking tackle. He`s very reckless at times, Ashley Cole. He is committed of course but he sometimes can go over the edge a bit and that tackle was an example of that."

"The referee has booked him for it so I don`t know why it wasn`t a penalty. I must ask him."

"We will have to see what the damage is in the morning. His leg is numb. He could be out for a couple of weeks."

With Danny Welbeck also on the treatment table could this be an opportunity for Berbatov, Owen or Macheda to stake a claim for a place alongside Rooney?

It should have been a pen - if it wasn't in the area I bet a free kick would have been given

Should've been a penalty but i'm not overly fussed about it, needless to say but if we didn't get the result then I would've been. Some Chelsea fans talking of how 2 of our goals were offside are being completely blinkered and failing to recognise that we should've had another penalty. They're also neglecting the fact that the linesman got it wrong yes but Smalling wasn't even marked, that's poor defending and also Nani came back from offside to near enough the halfway line and drove a ferocious shot home with the only challenge coming after he had shot, once again, poor defending. The Chelsea players didn't even call for an offside for either goal, they knew it was their fault.

Well Merlin - would a free kick had been given if it was outside the area? I think so - even if the ball had gone out of play - so some clarification would be good :)

I am a bit surprised that Cole got away scot-free with that one. The ref will have felkt rather embarrassed when he saw the tackle on the replay. DOH!
