'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Takeover Talk (Again)

With the club preparing to float on the Far East Stock Exchange, is something far more attention grabbing about to happen?

The reason I ask is that the Daily Mirror carries an article on its back page, labeled as an exclusive, that infers that a £1.6 billion takeover bid is being prepared by the Qatari royal family.

It cites the fact that Middle East sources are claiming that a official approach has been made to the Glazer family with a hint that a deal could be struck as early as next week!

Definitely one to keep an eye on then!

As much as I would love a billionaire takeover (though once we're debt free it really won't matter) I can't see the Glazers even entertaining the idea of selling the club. Once they sell 25% of their shares they could use the money to clear all remaining debt and take the money out of the club which the club doesn't use improving to do what they will with it which in the long term will earn them far more than 1.6 billion.

Wonder how things would have panned out for City if they hadn't had the billionaire owners......
