Rooney Leads the Way!

Rooney Leads the Way!

As England racked up a pretty convincing win in Sofia last night, against Bulgaria, it was Wayne Rooney that led the charge.

Rooney, on a hot-scoring streak at the moment, netted twice in the 3-0 win and after the game had this to say to the assembled media hacks,

"We have one foot in the finals. Wales winning as well puts u sin a great position. If we win on Tuesday, I`m sure we will qualify."

"Ours was a good performance from the whole team and we fully deserved three points."

"I`m enjoying my football. I`ve a hunger about me and I want to prove myself again. Hopefully I`m doing it."

I`d say you certainly are. The Rooney we`re witnessing at the moment is afar cry from the dejected figure that strolled around the pitch this time last year.

By far Englands best player on the pitch and it was a breath of fresh air to see some players deserving of a place playing. Some hope has been restored but to be honest with the squad Capello's got you've got to expect England to beat Bulgaria. Wales should be a win but with England the simplest of games can be a struggle. Can't help but feel when the Euro does come around we will see the usual eleven.

Not playing Lamps helped, but Barry and Downing were pretty poor - I really liked watching Parker turn round - you could see he was frustrating the Bulgarians with the number of fouls on him!
Youth will be the way forward, and I hope Fab Cap drops more 'older' players from the finals and picks the best squad if we get there...
