Smalling and Jones!

The press hacks watching England train, in preparation for their fixture against Bulgaria, in Sofia, this Friday, have let out something that might be of interest.

Behind closed door, Fabio Capelo played a practice match that saw Chris Smalling operating at right back, Phil Jones alongside John Terry at the heart of the defence and Ashley Cole laying at left-back.

They`re under the impression that may well be the starting back-four on Friday night.

Let`s hope so!

No way! I'm dead set against it. They're young and will be expected to play 30-40 games this season for club alone and when you've got a plethora of more experienced defenders there I don't think Capello should be picking them but rather using them as subs or subbing them off. If he's picking them now then it's more than likely that they will be picked for the Euro 2012 also meaning loads more games and no summer rest so instead we, their employers, will be expected to rest them when we want them to play and then they will be playing again when we want them to rest. Will they ever learn? Was Wilshere and Rooney not warning enough for burn-out and overplaying them at a young age?

Would leave the youth on the benches until midway through the 2nd half - that magical 60 min mark then see the impact they make...
