United have started the season on the front foot.
Two decent wins, one at home and one away, see us sitting at the top of the table with our noisy-neighbours Manchester City.
Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have done his sums right. The gaffer has seen several of the old-guard walk away and has plumped for a youthful approach as he attempts to build another legacy.
Although it is way too early to talk about it being a job done, the signs are good and the side, as it gains experience, will get better and better.
One of those youngsters, Chris Smalling, who is already looking like a bargain buy, has spoken about what I`ve just been talking about, remarking,
"There is an excitement in terms of endless potential."
"We have nowhere near reached it and are looking forward to how far we can go. It looks good for the future and I`m excited to be part of it."
But let`s not just take Chris` word for it.
On Monday evening Patrice Evra returned from injury and was the oldest player in the back five and he had this to say about the youthful injection,
"The boss is not afraid to use young players."
"They have such composure. They want to prove to the manager they are ready to play on the team. It`s good for us because we need some energy and they have that."
"I`m not surprised because they played well during the pre-season and they are confident."
"We have lost experienced players like Edwin van der Sar, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville but you can see now that the team is very fresh."
Now what was it Alan Hansen said about youngsters?
Can we prove him wrong a second time?

You guys werent at your best against WBA - and that could have gone weither way - but like us you ground out a result......
As much as I hate Drogba - to me he will always be better than Torres - still think you should cut your losses and sell the turd....
