Cleverley's unexpected chance

The reports were correct; the mutterings that Tom Cleverley had been called into the England squad were true.

Cleverley's unexpected call came on Monday when the squad was hit by some withdrawals and this has seen the United man handed his first senior call-up.

It is highly unlikely that he will start the game against Holland although there is a good chance the U21 will make the step-up to win his first senior cap at some stage during the night, assuming the game even goes ahead?

I think he can expect to see more international football in the future.

He will certainly be a contender for future squads - so chin up Tom, there will be plenty more chances for you in the future....
