'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fee agreed for Obertan

Gabriel Obertan's United career will come to an end this week as a move to Newcastle has been agreed.

Alan Pardew expects this deal to be confirmed in the coming week: 'all being well, the deal will be pushed through next week.

'He has not really had the chance to shine at Old Trafford but he has pace to burn and will bring some much needed sharpness to our side.'

Obertan has struggled to make an impact with United since his arrival from Bordeaux a couple of years ago and is set for his medical with Newcastle tomorrow.

The 22-year-old will apparently sign a 5-year contract with United recouping the 3m paid when he arrived, so its not a bad bit of business really.

There goes another one of our amazing "Prospects". At least we got our money back this time.

What Alan Pardew has recognised is what shocks me the most, we never really gave him the chance like we do with most of our other youngsters. In fairness, even now if he were to get a chance he wouldn't be able to keep it as Nani, Valencia, Young, Park an Giggs are just too good for him to get a game. He looked remarable during his first year here I do wonder where it all went wrong for him. All the same best of luck for the future Obertan, you're still very raw but hone your skill and you might be another Rossi or Forlan.

We cant predict the outcome of every youngsters brought in, if so, we would be unstoppable, for every Scholes or Beckham at least 50 odd players will come and leave United. Only the best youngsters make, most times they dont develop into a first team player. I agree though with FN7 maybe he didnt get enough chances, maybe we should have loaned him out, but sometimes it doesnt work out. Who would have thought Chicarito would develop so fast, this is name of game when it comes to developing youngsters, 95% dont make it.

Have liked the look of Gabby when hes had chance to play - but he often took a touch too many, or over ran the ball - lads defo got skills - hope he puts them to use for us, but I honestly think hes on his way out......

Have Newcastle got their own French revolution going on over there? They've got Marveaux and Ben Arfa on the wings already whilst Cabaye will play through the middle. Got to wonder where they're going to fit Obertan. I hope he signs for them and is actually given a chance rather than being a bench warmer who's nothing more than back-up and competition.
TheFamousNo7
Maybe he could go there on loan instead of a permanant deal?
niteworlok
Personally would prefer a loan as Obertan really can be great and if he proves to be good but not brilliant on loan we still may be able to demand more than the 3 mil we originally paid. I suppose I'll just have to trust in Fergies judgement.
TheFamousNo7
Hes got raw talent - it needs honing - wonder how Bebe will do this coming season with his loan club?.....

Hopefully 43 goals.
