Scholes ends in Scholes fashion

Scholes ends in Scholes fashion

Paul Scholes does what Paul Scholes does best, scoring with a trademark 20-yard strike in his testimonial. Scholes brought the curtain down on a glittering 17-year career with United this summer, ending with 150 goals in 676 appearances.

The 36-year-old was in target; opening the scoring after only 8 minutes, with his strike to get the ball rolling on a 6-0 win over New York Cosmos.

It was a carnival atmosphere with United using many players that will feature in the community shield, which saw Wayne Rooney, Anderson, Danny Welbeck and a double from Mame Biram Diouf complete the scoring.

Following the game Scholes addressed the crowd, returning to the pitch to modestly say: 'I hope I gave them a few decent memories.'

Oh, I think you gave club and country more than a 'few' decent memories Paul!

Scholes did what he does best? Wht's that then, a viscious lungeing tackle from behind that leaves the player in a heap whilst the commentators wax lyrical about how "Scholes can't tackle."

Is it wrong for me to say I can't wait for him to play at Giggsy's tribunal? Pure class and easily one of the greatest players in history. Legend.
