Berbatov rumours 'nonsense'

Sir Alex did not mince his words at all, when responding to the latest rumours surrounding Dimitar Berbatov.

'Nonsense' is how the United manager described the rumours of a move to Paris St Germain: 'it's nonsense. There's absolutely no interest or encouragement from us either.'

Michael Owen, Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda will all be battling with the Bulgarian to start the season alongside Wayne Rooney as Javier Hernandez will be missing through injury.

Berbatov is tipped to get the nod in the community shield tomorrow.

If PSG offer enough for the 30-year-old, with only a year on his contract, perhaps it will not be nonsense after all...

We should atleast consider an 18 mil bid and possibly try to persuade PSG to up it by a couple more million. It's a fantastic return for 30 year old player who's in the last year of his contract. Berby was brilliant last season and I can't thank him enough for his services but 18 mil and the younger strikers get invaluable first-team experience due to his absence, it's just too good to turn down.

We shouldn't consider an 18 million pound bid we should just accept it, bank the money or invest in another experienced striker.

We have too many strikers at Utd - and hes not first choice - time to move on Dimi
