De Gea Fears Dispelled!

Having spent big on two keepers, with one being considerably more expensive than the other, Sir Alex Ferguson would appear to have the position well covered.

Not too many clubs can boast that they have two international keepers on their books and in the goalkeeping department, United`s future looks safe in the hands of David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard.

But, there are still mutterings form the tabloid press about De Gea not being physically suited to the bustle of the Premier League game, fears that his skinny frame could see him struggle.

Sir Alex though was having none of it and continued to champion his young Spanish keeper, commenting.

"The benefit we have with De Gea is that he is only 20."

"The qualities that stood out are his great composure and use of the ball."

"He`s quick and agile. I thought he was the right goalkeeper to take."

Once again only time will tell; but we have no reason to doubt Sir Alex on this one especially after the shenanigans that followed the retirement of Peter Schmeichel.

We reckon Sir Alex would have pondered long and hard about getting a suitable replacement for Edwin van der Sar bearing in mind the previous problems he encountered!

The issue with the English media is that they have this undying belief that you have to be a 6 ft+ physical powerhouse to get anywhere in the Premier League. De Gea is very gifted player with a very good frame for the position he plays in.

Love the positive spin Red Boy, 2 international keepers? De Gea hasn't been capped at senior level for Spain yet and although Lindegaard has 4 caps he's currently 3rd choice Danish keeper, but what ever keeps you happy I guess. I agree though that the press are full of ***** about De Gea's slight frame, it matters little, Van der Sar was hardly a brick *****house now was he? Beanpole would be a more apt description.
