Park Blast

A lot of eyebrows were raised when Manchester United signed Ji-Sung Park.

Not many Koreans had made their mark in European football and some of the more vociferous hacks were of the opinion that Park was only on the United books to boost the clubs image in Asia and add a quite a few quid to the coffers via shirt sales and such like.

Today, its recognized that Park is one of the most dependable player sin the United squad and Sir Alex Ferguson values his contribution and has no hesitation in selecting him when United play their more important fixtures.

Over in the USA, Park has recalled those thoughts of those who doubted his talent and inferred that there could be several more arrivals, in Europe, from Korea, remarking,

"At first, some said I was selling shirts. It was my first year and maybe they thought an Asian player could not perform in European football. But I have shown it was the wrong thing to think and am delighted with that. I have proved I can play in European football."

"More Korean players will come. There are Korean players with the talent to play in Europe. Hopefully, they`ll show how Asian football has improved."


And if any further indication was needed of Park`s worth to United, just look at the new contract he`s just put pen to!

Park is brilliant and to even consider the idea that he's only here to sell shirts really shows how naive some people are. His attitude, workrate and teamworking skills are second to none.
