Community Shield Beckons!

Community Shield Beckons!

Could there ever be a better curtain raiser?

Sure, the games with Chelsea, in recent years, have been fascinating but to a Mancunian playing Manchester City, at Wembley, is an enticing prospect.

Even more so when there`s a hint of revenge in the air following our FA Cup semi-final defeat to our noisy-neighbours last season.

Plus there`s the added factor that both sides are entitled to a larger share of the tickets than for any of the other show-piece games.

The word hum-dinger comes to mind with Sir Alex Ferguson commenting on a game that is now less than two weeks away,

"It`s about addressing our noisy-neighbours again. It will be an interesting match."

"It won`t be a normal Community Shield for Manchester United."

See! It`s infectious and I, for one, can`t wait!

Both teams will be going out to win and see it as more of an opportunity to get one over your rivals rather than a boring, moderately intense preseason match. It will definately be more worthwhile than our other Community Shield matches in recent years.

It's not about how many times you shoot but about how many times you score.

I couldn't care less mate we won the Premier League whilst you picked up the next trophy down ;) When you prove yourself in a marathon rather than a sprint I might just be impressed. Sprints can be won by anyone you see, just look at Portsmouth.

We'll see how well your collection of one-legged dogs that passes for a midfield gets on in the marathon this season eh?

We'll also see how your pathetic excuse for wingers will get on also eh?

Not that Mancini generally plays wingers in the traditional way but who exactly is our pathetic excuse for wingers? Silva? Johnson?

Johnson, Milner, Wright-Phillips and Weiss. Odd how you buy a target man like Dzeko but don't give him sufficient supply lines to play to his physical strengths.

So Johnson is a pathetic excuse for a winger is he? Buying Dzeko was to have an alternative option up front, the system will have to be rejigged to play to his strengths, who knows maybe that is being worked on in preseason. Not really the best time to alter your system mid season to accommodate a new player now is it?
