Questioning Rio`s Future!

Questioning Rio`s Future!

Having signed Chris Smalling (last summer) and Phil Jones (this summer) there certainly is competition for places this coming season at the heart of our defence.

Over in the States, with the press hanging onto his every word, Sir Alex has spoken about one of the first choice central defenders staying fit or falling victim to the plethora of talent we have, remarking about Rio Ferdinand,

"Rio will have to stay fit, that`s the key for him."

"As he gets older he won`t play al the games because we have Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones who are the best three young centre backs in the country."

"Anyone of them can come in."

Was that a slight hint that Rio`s United career is drawing to a close?

I like to think he will retire here, he's a superb CB when fit. However, unless he remains fit I can't see him being here for too long, too many players are breathing down his neck for his space and you don't pay the sort of wages he's on for a bench warmer.
