Owen`s Hopes!

Awarding Michael Owen a one year contract extension took many of us by surprise.

Owen, who has struggled with injuries since signing, didn`t feature too often last season and it was widely expected that he`d be leaving Old Trafford.

But having been given a new lease of life, Owen is quite confident that he`ll feature more often next season.

Talking to the media, as United embark on the USA tour, Owen had this to say about his hopes for next season,

"Last year wasn`t quite so good."

"But the manager said I`m firmly in his plans this season and he expects me to play a lot more."

"The option is there to go to a lesser club and play more often but I`d prefer to play in a top team with all the things that come with it."

If he can stay fit we might like to add!

He looked good in the game against New England and showed his worth and in fairness to him I don't think his ever disappointed when called upon. I said earlier on that I'd be gutted to see Berby leave before him but at current, from yesterdays performances, I'd see he's earning his place more than Berby. Owen showed a hunger to break into the first team whilst Berby seemed content almost knowing he will be in it.

I think one of the key reasons he got a new deal was his experience and the fact he's a good example to the rest of the boy's. Not too mention him and Fergie share a love of the horses.
