In For Modric?

The mutterings coming out of White Hart Lane this week infer that Luka Modric is going nowhere.

Although the player might like a move Daniel Levy is insisting he`s going nowhere and Modric`s agent has also categorically stated that Modric will not be asking for a transfer.

So far, the prime contenders for Modric`s signature have been Chelsea but there is a suspicion, as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to continue hi summer spending spree, that United could be about to test Spurs` resolve.

One news source I stumbled upon is of the belief that a deal is very much on the cards with United set to offer Spurs 10-12 million plus two players.

Now the source doesn`t mention which of our squad Spurs are to be enticed with but I wouldn`t mind hazarding a guess that the name of Dimitar Berbatov might be prevalent here.

No doubt Spurs will continue to insist that Modric is not for sale but didn`t they say something similar when we went through all this bluster with Dimitar Berbatov`s deal; a deal that was concluded as the transfer window had all but slammed shut?

I think we should leave Levy. He's a nut and he'll love to report us again to the FA. Sneijder or Nasri for me

I hate it when tabloids print rubbish/lies/speculation. I'm pretty sure most people do. The reason these lies gain any sort of momentum (and the only reason they exist at all), is that people buy into them. Vital is a FOOTBALL SITE for FOOTBALL FANS so stop printing this s&*te. Heres your quote redboy: "One news source I stumbled upon is of the belief that a deal is very much on the cards with United set to offer Spurs 10-12 million plus two players" Whoever wrote that did it so YOU would click on the story so THEY get paid for advertizing. And waht do you do????? copy and paste it!!!! Stop greasing the machine you numpty and be a FAN not a FANNY

Levy is adamant he will not sell Modric this summer. If Levy did he would be unable to continue to run Spurs. All that really means though is that you or Chelsea will have to wait until the January window lol.

Levy is adamant eh? So he won't be joining Chelsea until the last day of the window then?;-)

Even if Modric was for sale considering spurs already have 32 squad players over 21 (despite '25 rule'), I'm not really sure Levy would be keen in taking 2 more squad players on. Although to me Levy seems immovable this time making it moot point anyway

We have no footballing reasons to sell; the only ways he is going is if someone offers silly money; then Levy can blame it on the player saying he insisted on going! Thankfully Modric is of better stock than Berbahuff!

***** this bs, get Sneijder in he's much better then Modric and Nasri. There have been some encouraging tones coming out of Inter this week, make a bid, see what happens. Modric will be leaving Spurs as soon as Chelski or Man Sh.ity offer 40 million. As for Berbatov he can ***** off to which ever club he fancies although he is prob too lazy to move on. "Levy is adamant" hahahaha lololol of course he is, he's a business man he isn't going to admit Modric will leave when he can squeeze a few more million more from a club that wants him.

Read the lines not between the lines. Modric is not for sale at any price. Now move on with your dirty money spending. You won't get Snijder either.

What part of 'not for sale' do we not understand? Well, in Tottenham terms 'not for sale' means he is for sale but only at a certain price, prove me wrong? Give me 3 spurs players where Levy has said their not for sale and hasn't actually sold them. As for Levy, his been good for Tottenham but it doesn't detract from the fact that he is a nut, letting Redknapp have a say in the transfer market and trasfers he makes is an example of why he's a nut. No to Suarez when you could've bought him?! Are you sure? As for Modric, he's a magnificent player no doubt but for the figures being thrown it's crazy to even consider him. I'd sooner us go for a much better and marginally more expensive Sneijder, a half as expensive with greater potential and decent ability Douglas Costa or attempt to find another Hernandez/Smalling-esque player who plays AM than pay the silly price tag put on him. Let Spurs keep him, let Chelsea have him, let him do what he wants as long as it aint at United for a stupid price.

TFN7 - Easy to be cynical and make generalisations but if you contrast Levy's position on Modric to that of Berbatov and Keane, where the tone was defiant but accepting that a sale is likely ( you'll see why a sale this summer is unlikely, or not if you want to continue ignoring all the evidence ;)

Phartman, I reckon Modric will stay this season but his departure is imminent. I like Tottenham but Modric is a cut above Tottenham standards and getting back into the Champions League will surely only intensify his desire to leave and get his hands on more trophies and consistent European football. He's 'not for sale' now but there's no doubt in my mind that in the future I will be proved right.

So you think Modric will stay this year but leave if we're not in the Champions League next year? That's what we've been saying all along and also what Levy said in his statement and end of year message. If 'we' have the same opinion I'm not sure why you're being so cantankerous about it

Berbatov refused to play you fool, Modric won't b doing that. Levy has made the position clear so Utd should be reported to the league if they make a bid.

Phartman I reckon even if you get into the Champions League and make the signings Modric wants he's still off. I'm simply saying 'not for sale' in Tottenham terms means for sale at the right place, something your fellow supporters don't seem to understand.

Tottenham terms? When any club says 'not for sale' it actually means 'not for sale unless you offer twice as much as he's worth'. Just like Ronaldo, Torres and Kaka were 'not for sale', but then again United, Liverpool and Milan have always been a selling clubs right?

To Real Madrid and Barca, yes, yes we are. The fact is unless you're Madrid or Barca you're a feeder club to someone and 'not for sale' will always mean 'for sale at the right price' to them.

Then what about Figo to Madrid? Or Robinho to City? The point I was making is ALL clubs are sellling clubs if it's in their best interest to sell. Bringing this back to Modric it would do so much damage to us on a footballing level it doesn't make sense to sell unless obscene money is offered so, not so much 'for the right price' but 'for a rediculous price'. Considering how low Chelsea started the bidding I'm not sure they (or anyone else) has the inclination to bid anywhere near the level which would force Daniel Levy to renege on his 'promise'

@sidyid We are not dim in fact far from it we know our standing. We have to go through the same thing when real madrid come knocking on door for our best players we are powerless to stop it because they are bigger richer and pay the players more we accept it and dont cry about it like you are. You have to accept united are much bigger than spurs and live with it like we have to pointless crying and getting all bitter about its life

Sorry for asking Red Boy, but where exactly do United fans discuss these sort of topics? I can understand the A**e*****e because theirs is full of pretentious Brightonian London wannabee Grauniad journos, and is as popular as a scottish pay toilet. Where are all the United bloggers? All the other stuff on here has two three or four responses. Anything involving Spurs results in thirty odd replies, at least. Is it an advertising imperative?
